Local Information

Calis Beach is at the foot of the mountains. The nearest large town is Fethiye(about 10 mins drive). The 5 km stretch of beach is an excellent place to relax and unwind with many bars not too far away.

This beach has also been chosen by the local population of Loggerhead turtles as their nesting site, so if you are lucky you may get a glimpse of these beautiful animals.

In Calis Beach there are many bars and restaurants along the sea front and stunning views across the bay to Fethiye. Along the seafront there is a pedestrianised boulevard. Fethiye can also be reached by dolmus or alternatively you can take the very pleasant water taxi that leaves from Calis.

There are many things to do in the area surrounding Calis Beach, such as boat trips, a trip to Dalyan and the mud baths, paragliding from Babadag Mountain in Olu Deniz, a trip to Kayakoy a deserted village, Saklikent where you can walk through the gorge, jeep safari and explore local ancient archealogical sites.

Weather

Dry, long, hot summers and short, warm, rainy winters are climatic characteristics of the region. The temperature which is around 86-105 F (30-40 C) during the summer, is usually above 50 F (10 C) in the winter. Considering the fact that in these turquoise-colored seas that in no season falls below 60 F (16 C) swimming is possible for nine months of the year, we might as well conclude that there are only two seasons in here: Spring and Summer!
